Quality Manager Openings
Career Growth With Meaning
Kashandra B.
Quality Manager
Austin, Texas
Employee Since 2001
When Kashandra first applied to BioLife after finishing graduate school, she thought it would be a short-term opportunity. Fast-forward nearly two decades later, her career at BioLife Plasma Services has become so much more than a job. During her time at BioLife, she’s had an impact on patient’s lives and built relationships with donors and their families. She’s encouraged her team and helped them to grow their careers, while also pursuing her own growth opportunities.
MAKING A DIFFERENCE
In her role as a Quality Manager, Kashandra is committed to doing all that she can to ensure patients receive safe medications. “Ultimately, I want to do everything I can to make sure we provide good, quality medications for patients,” she shares. Having a personal connection to what she does gives her work meaning. “Safety is a priority for me because my brother has hemophilia.”
Throughout her career, she has made connections with donors and their families too. She was inspired by one donor who came in because his kids relied on plasma treatments after they had been injured in a car explosion. Today, that donor’s children are donating. Hearing stories like this remind Kashandra how the work she does makes a difference in peoples’ lives.
SUPPORTING OTHERS
Kashandra’s team is also impacted by her dedication. She is involved in different aspects of staff development and enjoys helping them stretch and grow and developing the next leaders of the company. Kashandra has an eye for talent and encourages her team to learn by pursuing different opportunities, and helps them to see their potential, even when they may not see it in themselves. “It’s truly rewarding to see the confidence of team members grow over time. They realize they can have a career here, and they’re really motivated.” She adds, “I saw something in one of my colleagues that told me she would be a great supervisor. I coached and challenged her to push herself, and she’s now in a leadership position.”
FINDING OPPORTUNITIES
Kashandra also feels supported in her own professional growth and development. The management team has recommended her for new roles as they open up, which has helped her career grow. During her tenure, she has traveled to over 15 centers across the country and was nominated to participate in BioLife’s green and yellow belt program. She even served as Interim Regional Quality Manager, which she feels allowed her to develop her leadership skills and build expertise that will prepare her for future advancement opportunities.
